The sun revolves around the house and the garden and it creates different light and shadow. This permits the family to live outside most of the year, in addition to Sicilian climate that it’s nice and temperate.
Furthermore, the light and the shadows illuminates different areas according to the time and the activities can be done.
The project considers the different time phases, by alternating the seasons, nights and days depending on the uses. The way the light bounces off it, by varying artificial light with natural one. The aim is to regularise the space vision, designing visual pathways using architectural archetypes as “portico” and “court”.
The choice of different materials for density permits to frame the view, highlighting various elements.
Light paths and architectural elements lead you to discover endless possibilities living in the open air. And it is precisely the Impressionist’s concept of “en plein air” has inspired me during the implementation of the project.
